Writing Your First E-Book - Distribution Options
If you have been following my articles on writing your first e-book you have come a long ways in a fairly short period of time. From starting out with no e-book, maybe no ideas, and no experience, you now have your first e-book completed and converted into a format that makes distribution easy.
When it comes to distribution, you have several options. Some options tend to be less expensive than others. Your first option is e-book directories. A quick search on the Internet will reveal hundreds of e-book directories. If your e-book is for sale, most of these directories charge a small one-time fee for listing your e-book.
Another option is Clickbank. They specialize in digital products and they automate the entire purchase process. An advantage for getting your book listed here is that you can recruit affiliates to sell your e-book for you. Of course you should be prepared to give your affiliates between 40% and 75% of the purchase price as an incentive to sell your e-book.
My favorite option is to sell my own e-books. By selling your own e-book from your own site, you have total control of the sales process. You can set your prices, you can offer bonuses, and you can even run sales to attract new customers. In short, you are in charge of the entire operation, from inception to sales. All it requires is a web site, a sales page, and a payment processor. All of this can be done by an enterprising person for under $30.
